Betfair has secured a groundbreaking sponsorship agreement with Brazilian soccer club Vasco da Gama, representing the most financially rewarding deal in the club’s existence.
This multi-year collaboration, effective until December 2025 with a potential extension of two additional seasons, establishes the sports wagering titan as Vasco’s primary sponsor. The recognizable Betfair emblem will be prominently featured on both the men’s and women’s team jerseys, as well as throughout the club’s online presence and exclusive “Clube do Povo” (The People’s Club) material.
Beyond conventional sponsorship activities, Betfair and Vasco will work together on a series of endeavors for the devoted “Team da Virada” supporters. These include special offers, raffles for premium match entries and official merchandise, and one-of-a-kind experiences intended to connect fans more closely with the on-field action.
Supporters can get their initial look at the Betfair-branded Vasco uniform on May 12th, when the men’s squad faces off against Vitória.
Vasco CEO Lucio Barbosa conveyed his excitement about the partnership, remarking: “This arrangement with Betfair is a momentous occasion for Vasco, signifying not only a privilege but also our most substantial sponsorship arrangement thus far. We’ve dedicated weeks to rigorous discussions to obtain the most advantageous terms for the club with this international powerhouse.”
He continued, “Obstacles await, but we remain dedicated to striving relentlessly for Vasco’s triumphs.”
Kimberly Daly, the Global Head of Operations at Betfair, highlighted that the collaboration with Vasco da Gama transcends a basic jersey sponsorship. It embodies a strategic partnership founded on mutual principles, a dedication to superiority, and an ardent love for the sport. This joint effort seeks to pay homage to the club’s storied past while bolstering financial support for the Rio de Janeiro team’s initiative, fostering its growth both presently and in the years to come.
In other sports partnership developments this week, William Hill has allegedly consented to become the primary sponsor of Spain’s La Liga, while provider Tecnet Asia proclaimed its backing of Philippine football club Dynamic Herb Cebu.
